GUADALAJARA, MEXICO - April 23, 1992

Problem:
Massive liquid petroleum pipeline release required evacuation of residents due to imminent danger of explosions.

Action: Conduct soil gas survey to determine areal extent of contamination; install monitor wells based upon soil gas results to delineate vertical extent of contamination; design remediation system and monitor clean-up.

Target Clean-up Goal: Total BTEX < 5 ppm.

Results: Total BTEX in ground water actually reduced to < 3 ppm by September, 1992 (4 months following assessment).
